Interview With Cemetery Sun!

Sacramento, CA pop/alternative band, Cemetery Sun, has had a big 2016 year so far. They've released new music, have gone on tour, and have worked hard to get to where they are now, and they show no signs of stopping. Just recently, the band was kind enough to answer a few questions that Stereo Noise had, and had tons to share about what they have to offer and the future of Cemetery Sun.

To start things off, could you guys introduce yourself and give us a bit of a background about how the band got its start?

I'm Josh and I handle vocals. I'm Jesse, and I play lead guitar. I'm Elliot, I play rhythm guitar and help with producing. And I'm Austen, I play drums and handle the beats. We got our start from playing in different bands in the music scene (in more of the heavier genres), and it came down to Josh trying out for Jesse and Elliots new project they were working on. When that didn't work out, we decided it was best for Jesse and Elliot to come join what Josh and Austen had been working on (a band called Headlines), and at that point we didnt know it yet, but Cemetery Sun was born.

You guys just recently released your newest single "E.Y.T.Y.K." through Alternative Press, how has the reception been from fans in regards to the song?

The reception has been incredible. Our fans are insane and continue to suprise us every day. We wanted to release a single that was more slow and somber, instead of our upbeat material, just because the song really resonates with us, and the fans' response has been amazing to say the least. Some fans in even sent us a picture of them flyering their hometown over on the East Coast, promoting the premiere of the song. Things like that are just unreal to us!

How does it make you guys feel to be noticed by and have your single premiered through Alternative Press, which can be consider a huge news outlet in the music scene?

It makes us feel great. It is very rewarding to see your work being put on display like that and getting awesome promotion through an outlet like AP. We hope to continue working with them in the future.

So you guys just wrapped up touring not too long ago, how did the tour go?

The tour was a dream come true. It was our first REAL tour under the band Cemetery Sun, and it was extremely overwhelming in the best way possible. Every city was incredible, and the crowds seemed to just burst at the seams with energy. Every time we thought the tour couldn't get any better, we would end up in another city and the fans would suprise us and blow us away.

Was there any one particular place that you played that stands out from the rest?

It would either have to be the Bluebird in Denver, or the Rave in Milwaukee. Both shows were sold out and I remember in Denver, we had been out back the whole time and hadn't seen the crowd yet, so when we got out there and saw the massive crowd losing their mind, we were extremely stoked. We honestly will never forget that tour.

How was it to be on the road with Vinyl Theatre and Finish Ticket throughout the tour?

Both bands were easy to get along with and really cool dudes. We had been fans of both bands before the tour, and it was cool to get to know those guys. Hope to go back out with them in the future!

Now that the summer is quickly approaching do you guys have any plans for any summer tours?

We are in the works but it is all polotical and we want to make the right decision and go on the RIGHT tour, so we don't want to rush anything. We are definitely locking in some fesitivals here and there.

& The question that I'm sure everyone's been asking, what is the next step for Cemetery Sun and your music? Any new songs, albums, or even music videos in the works?

We are exclusively streaming our EP April 29th on Spotify, so that means three new songs the fans haven't heard yet will be available to stream. We are releasing solely through Spotify because we think Spotify is definitely a huge movement in the music scene right now, and we wanted to be a part of it.

& Before we wrap things up, something I always like to do, is there anything you guys would like to say to your fans and listeners?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING! Seriously guys... you make it so worth it for us and are the sole reason we keep doing this. We hope to keep making you guys proud. Til next time!
