Review: Emarosa '131'
If you have not head yet, Emarosa recently released their highly anticipated album titled, 131, through Hopeless Records. The album features some acclaimed singles, such as, "Cloud 9", "Helpless", and "Miracle", as well as a number of brand new songs. The album, which was released on July 8th, has received much praise from a number of music and news outlets.
After the release of the band's last album, Versus, the band decided to leave Rise Records and reimagine themselves. With that reimagination, the band decided to join Hopeless Records and create 131. With this album, Emarosa experiments with a softer side to their music. Each song off the album has a unique, and very tasteful sound. I found that the lyrics in each song off the album could be considered quite personal. Nonetheless, the lyrics may be my favorite thing about the album. Seeing as I was so fond of the lyrics, it made me even happier that the lyrics were put to good use with the awesome melodies and great chemistry of the band. Each song has a smooth transgression throughout the entire album, making the album seem as if it were a story rather than a collection of random songs that the band put together.
I was very pleased with this album, and I would absolutely recommend it to those looking for some new music to check out. Whether you're a long time Emarosa fan, or a new listener, I think that you will enjoy this album. Kudos to Bradley Walden, ER White, Jordan Stewart, and Matthew Marcellus for such an amazing release.
