Interview with The Anthem!
Pop punk band The Anthem hails from Rome, Italy where they are currently hitting it big. Having just released a sick music video for their song, "Like You're James Dean" as well as hitting a number of cities to play shows, it's safe to say 2016 has been going pretty well for these guys. Stereo Noise was given the opportunity to be able to talk to the band a bit and find out what they think about what is going on for them so far this year.
To start things off, could you guys introduce yourselves and tell us how you guys came together as a band?
Hello guys, we are The Anthem from Rome, Italy. We started the band at high school, we all listened to the same kind of music and we wanted to reproduce it someway, so we started playing pop punk covers, which is the standard way to approach music for a novice. Then after a few years practicing, we started creating our own music.
So you guys just recently released a new video for your song, "Like You're James Dean." How has the reception from fans been in regards to the video? Are they liking it?
We’re receiving lots of good feedbacks from our fans on social networks, we didn’t expect such a positive reaction. I think people like both the video and the song, which is maybe more important to us.
Can you guys tell us about the experience of being on set when filming this video?
We recorded the video by night so it’s been pretty exhausting, but also really fun. We always like being on set, the lights, the make up...This video has been even more fun because a lot of friends joined it as actors. Also the shotguns scene has been cool to shot.
From what I've gathered, you guys have had quite an exciting 2016 year so far. From playing different shows, to radio appearances, and all that comes in between. Has there been anything you guys done so far this year that sticks out to you from the rest of your accomplishments?
Maybe the most amazing thing that happened this year so far is our song being played on national Radios. But can i also mention the Japanese tour we made in october 2015? It’s been terrific!
How has your experience been sharing the stage with other artists during the different shows that you guys have performed at? Is there a particular band or artist that you guys enjoyed playing with most?
We always try to learn from the bigger bands we support, we’ve been lucky enough to share the stage with some of our favourite artists, like All Time Low, The Ataris, You Me At Six, Young Guns and many more. All those experiences have been totally awesome and helped us growing up as a band. If i have to pick one special memory, i’d choose the 3 shows mini-tour with All Time Low in Italy, 3 sold out shows with an amazing crowd. Plus, they are really nice guys.
Now that the summer is quickly approaching, what do you guys have planned? More shows? New music?
More shows of course. We love playing summer festivals in Italy and abroad. Playing shows is obviously the thing we love to do the most, and summer is perfect for that.
& Before wrapping things up, is there anything you guys would like to say to your fans and listeners?
Yo guys, thanks for your support and keep spreading the word. Love.
